Governing bodies must give notice of the time, place and agenda for an regular, special or emergency meeting. A Public Notice must be reasonably calculated to give actual notice to interested persons and media who have asked in writing to be notified of meetings, and general notice to the public at large.  Governing bodies wishing to provide adequate notice should strive to provide as much notice as possible to ensure that those wishing to attend have ample opportunity.

Public Hearing: A hearing is for the purpose of taking testimony and gathering information from citizens and concerned parties to help with decision making. The Planning Commission and City Council both hold Public Hearings. Those notices will be published in the local news paper, mailed to the concerned parties or posted in this page. Not all of those items mentioned will be used in all cases. The rules are different depending on the item requiring the public hearing. Those rules are governed by the State of Oregon.

Public Meeting:  A public meeting is open to the public when a quorum of the Governing Body is present to discuss business. There are usually items on the agenda called public appearances allowing citizens a chance to discuss issues that are not on the agenda. A public meeting does not always indicate that the governing body will take public testimony during agenda item discussion.

Listed below are the current Public Hearing and Public Meeting notices posted for Central Point Meetings.
