Volunteer Selection Requirements

√ Must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid Oregon Drivers License
√ Willing to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per month for at least 1 year
√ Willing to submit fingerprints for processing, able to clear through Criminal History Check, and background investigation

***VIPS complete a training curriculum that includes First Aid, CPR, Personal Safety, Vacation House Check procedures, Crime Prevention, and Records Assistance.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers participate and assist with a number of duties, just a few of which are listed below. 

D.A.R.E. Program Assistance:
Assist with D.A.R.E. fund raising projects and help in the D.A.R.E. events such as D.A.R.E. Days, D.A.R.E. Show & Shine and Cruise, and D.A.R.E. graduation. 

Traffic Control:
Assist Police by conducting traffic control at emergency scenes and other special events in the City.

Vacation House Checks: 
Conduct security checks of the homes of citizens on vacation and document each time a security check is made.  

Guardian Angels:
Volunteers will make periodic visits to angel at their home and make sure the angel is doing well. Volunteers listen to any issues or concerns angels may have and will also give information and names of organizations that can best help the angel. 

Safe Streets:
Conduct speed surveys, using radar to document traffic speeds.
