Plant a Thousand Daffodils - Poetry Contest 2023

Central Point Parks and Rec Foundation's Plant a Thousand Daffodils announces a Poetry Contest.

This Year's Theme: "Inspired by Daffodils"

Open to all Elementary students in Central Point and surrounding communities.

Prizes will be awarded for each grade level and select entries will be published in the Parks and Recreation Guide and/or the City Newsletter.

Poetry of any style will be accepted. Illustrations are welcome but not required.

Deadline Extended! May 5, 2023

Rules:

Submissions: Up to two poems per student may be any style or length. Illustrations welcomed but not required. Poems must be clearly handwritten or typed. Children with limited writing skills may dictate to an older student or adult scribe who must certify that the words are the poet’s alone. Poems may be submitted in a language other than English but a translation must be provided.

Entry: There is no charge to enter the contest. Each poem must list the following on the BACK of the page: Name, Grade, Teacher’s Name, School, Best Way to contact, Name and signature of scribe (if relevant). Poems will be judged anonymously so please do not write a name on the front. Poems may be dropped off at Central Point City Hall, 140 S. 3rd. Street, Central Point, in the drop box in the lobby of the second floor, until 4:00 PM Friday, April 28, 2023. They can also be emailed to: centralpointdaffodils@gmail.com, or arrangements can be made to pickup entries prior to deadline if request is emailed to above address in advance.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded for each grade level and winners will be notified approximately two weeks following entry deadline. Funding for prizes has been graciously sponsored by the Central Point Friends of the Library. Some select winners will be published in an upcoming Parks and Recreation Guide and/or the City Newsletter.

All submissions will become property of the contest and regretfully cannot be returned, so please make copies of your work
