The Skyrman Central Point Arboretum

Welcome to the Skyrman Arboretum!
Open 8:30am-3:30pm

Park History and Plans:

Mr. Skyrman, who died in September 2010, donated the property to the City of Central Point with the stipulation that it be used as an arboretum to provide for educational programs for youth from around the region and for public enjoyment. The site is unique in that Mr. Skyrman’s father planted a variety of shrubs and every tree species native to Oregon, including the largest gray pine tree in the state. The property also includes two structures, a log cabin the family built to celebrate the bicentennial in 1976 and the Skyrman home. These buildings will be used to house classroom space for various educational programs.

The City’s plans for the site include trails and interpretive signage. Local schools will not only be invited to visit the site for educational programs but also to assist with developing the site. The Skyrman Arboretum is a welcome addition to the City’s park system. If you have any questions about the arboretum give us a call at (541) 664-3321 ext. 130.
