CERT Trainings

To become a CERT volunteer you must complete the 24 hours of classroom Basic Training offered by a CERT organization, or other sponsor. Attendees will learn core concepts of emergency preparedness and disaster response, including disaster medical operations, the incident command system, fire safety, search and rescue, disaster psychology, CERT functions and procedures, and CERT's role in hazmat situations.

Completing the entire length of the course is required before the Certificate of Completion can be awarded. Upon completion, certified volunteers will then be able to apply to their team of choice. Currently there are teams in Central Point, Medford, Jacksonville, and Ashland for the Rogue Valley region.

Additionally, there are free online training opportunities through the FEMA website under the CERT page link. These online courses are offered in supplement to the CERT Basic Training, and do not replace the live training.
