Local Wetland Inventory

The Local Wetland Inventory (LWI) for Central Point has been completed and is currently undergoing final review by the Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL). The LWI was prepared in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 141-086) and is intended to identify and map wetlands within current City limits and the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).

The identification and protection of significant wetlands were conducted using the “safe harbor” approach as defined in OAR 660-023-0100. Under this method, protection is applied directly to the delineated wetland boundaries without the addition of buffer areas. This approach ensures regulatory consistency while minimizing conflicts with property rights and development potential.

Most of the wetlands identified as significant are located within existing open space areas or lands that are not subject to development pressures or encroachments. Wetlands located within the undeveloped portions of the UGB do not currently conflict with planned public facilities or development projects, and no exceptions to Statewide Planning Goal 5 are determined to be necessary.
