Elections

The City Recorder serves as the City's Elections Officer and assists the public with election matters. This includes running for City office or filing an initiative petition. Working in conjunction with the Jackson County Elections Office and the Oregon Secretary of State Elections Division, the City Recorder oversees City elections.

Thank you for your interest in running for the office of Mayor or City Councilor. In the November 3, 2026 General Election, voters will elect three City Councilors. The successful candidates will serve four-year terms, starting January 1, 2027, and ending December 31, 2030.

Candidate Requirements

To run for a City office, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • The Mayor and City Councilor candidates must be registered to vote. You can verify your voter status HERE.
  • The Mayor and City Councilor candidates must be a resident of Central Point for at least 12 months immediately preceding the November election.
  • For candidates seeking a Ward position, they must reside in the specific ward they wish to represent and remain living within that ward throughout their term. (Refer to the ward map HERE).
  • The Mayor and City Councilor At-Large positions must reside within the Central Point City limits and remain living within the City throughout their term.

Signature Requirements:
Candidates must gather a minimum of 20 verified signatures from registered voters within their Ward. The City Recorder will submit the signature sheets to the Jackson County Elections office for verification.
