Terminating Service in Central Point

Individuals terminating service are now required to provide proof they are no longer responsible for utility services at the service's address. Tenants are not required to provide documentation, but are asked to check out of service to provide mail forwarding information and dates of termination. If you are the seller of property, you are required to provide a Final Settlement Statement or Recorded Warranty Deed from the closing of escrow that includes the names of the buyer and seller, property address and date of closing. You can check out of service by accessing our online form to submit your request electronically, uploading your documentation. Additionally, you are welcome to come into our office. Current property owners, requesting services to be turned off, will still be held responsible for base fees. Accounts will only be closed if owners provide documentation stating they are no longer responsible for the property.

Service will not be provided on weekends or holidays. If a home is sold, service will not be disconnected on Friday if the new owners have not yet established service; disconnections will be available, however, on the next business day. Online requests must be requested three days in advance; if your request needs to be processed sooner, please contact the Utility Department at 541-664-3321, ext. 204. There is a $40 charge for same-day service.

Rental Property

On August 11, 2016, the City Council passed an Ordinance in reference to unpaid utility accounts allowing the City to place a lien on a property with unpaid water utility charges. These liens will include rental and owner-occupied properties, ultimately making delinquent water utility charges the responsibility of the property owner.
