Police Substations

The Central Point Police Department has two substations within the City of Central Point, one on the East side of the City and the other on the West.

The East Substation was opened in 2005 and is located within the Pilot Travel Center at 1600 East Pine Street in Central Point.  This location was selected after the Central Point Police Department worked closely with several community partners to identify, and with great optimism, hoping to positively impact the safety and livability of our community, preferably in an area which was known for having a chaotic environment.

During a community meeting, neighbors and business owners from the Pine Street and Peninger Road area came together and acknowledged that severe traffic congestion, criminal activity of varying forms, social disorder, and a concern for the future of this vital area must be a focal point of our "peace keeping" efforts.  For these reasons it was determined that the logical site for a police substation should be in this neighborhood.

The opportunity for an innovative solution to address these issues presented itself as a consequence of the fire that damaged the Pilot Travel Center.  The staff at the Pilot Travel Center showed themselves to be one of the many excellent community partners, who were both anxious and eager, to support the efforts of the Central Point Police Department in restoring order to this troubled area.  During the remodel process, the Pilot Travel Center generously provided space in their building to house the substation.

East Substation

The West substation is located within the Twin Creeks Retirement Center located at 888 Twin Creeks Drive in Central Point.  This substation was made possible by the Twin Creeks Retirement Center donating a store front office space, designated parking space and more to allow police officers to work out of the substation.

Both substations are equipped with supplies and computers which allow officers to complete needed work while staying within their beats.  Officers can complete all needed paperwork and computer reports without having to drive to the main police department.

Other goals of our substations include:

  • Central Point Police Officers are more accessible to the community we serve
  • Maintain geographical balanced deployment of personnel in a rapidly growing community
  • General reduction of response times to high-priority calls in the areas where substations are located
  • Promoting a high visibility police presence in the substation areas
  • Providing a convenient location to meet with citizens we serve
